Centerpoint Amped 415 Crossbow

Updated: Nov 20, 2021

When it comes to crossbows there are about 100 options. This is not a debate about which crossbow is the best. There are many companies that make quality crossbows like Ten Point, Barnett, Ravin, PSE and Bear, etc.. This is simply about an affordable, mid level option for a crossbow that wont break the bank.

Crossbows are a great choice to get young kids and women into the outdoors. They are easier to use and allow them to be more accurate and more successful with a cleaner kill. I have no issues with anyone who chooses to hunt with a crossbow. I chose to hunt with one last year and I used the Centerpoint Amped 415.

I am not paid or sponsored by Centerpoint. I want to throw this out there. I found that the Amped 415 for only around $350 to $400 was a phenomenal crossbow. It is deadly accurate and I mean very accurate. It has a very good quality scope that comes with it. The string is of good quality. It is easy to assemble and packs a punch at 415 feet per second. The quiver is good quality and mounts with the bolts facing back which makes it more compact. We have harvested 4 deer in the last 2 years with this crossbow. We are 4 for 4 and not one of those deer went more than 50 yards. We had a pass through of the bolt on all 4 instances. A lot of that has to do with the broad head too. I strongly recommend the Swhacker 150 grain, 3 inch broad head. This broad head tears a hole in them with a 3" cut. Team this up with a Beman or Easton bolt and you cant go wrong. I am huge fan of Easton which also makes Beman bolts and arrows.

The down side of the Amped 415:

It is a heavier crossbow than most. Not by much but it is heavier. It also is hard to pull back for my daughter and wife. I have no issues, but at 415 fps it requires more draw weight. They both have difficulty getting it back. They also make a 370 or 380 model that is a little easier to pull back I believe. I tried to find a crank to solve this problem, but they have been out for 2 years.

All in all I would give this crossbow a very good rating. An affordable mid level crossbow that is of good quality and very accurate.
